Born in Germany, raised in Milwaukee, WI (where she has just returned to after a two year
stint living in San Francisco) Lunaversol9 and her unmistakable voice bear the marks of a
traveler: cautiously confident, comfortably uncertain, and universally relatable.
Written in 2006 and recorded during numerous attic sessions over a number of years
with producer and drummer Ted Brusubardis (Strong Computer, Leo Minor, Buffalo), A
Novel Slur's five songs focus on the recovery side of a broken heart (although “Hellbent”, a
track produced by JTodd, is about smoking). Written while still active in her other group with
JTodd, Def Harmonic (1999-present), the songs were performed for a few years around Milwaukee,
then set aside as Luna and Ted moved through to other projects. Listening Party, who is set
to release Def Harmonic’s Figs album in October, heard some of the tracks and offered to
release the as-yet-unheard work as a digital mini-album. Her first solo album, AfterBirth,
released in January ‘06, was a full length put out on Popguard, available on iTunes.
As a vocalist/MC in Def Harmonic, Buffalo and a solo artist she has played with
such acts as Le Tigre, Jean Grae, The Pharcyde, Prefuse 73, Themselves, Kid Koala, Zion I,
Lookbook, Kid Millions, Jogger, Daedelus, Akrobatic, Salva, Epcot, Ursula Rucker, Atmosphere
and many more. Also, Saul Williams is a fan. Boo-yah.
